FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. It is an online application form that is managed by the U.S. Department of Education. Once completed, your FAFSA will be available to all of the colleges and universities that you listed and they will use your information to determine which financial aid options you are eligible for. The federal school code for Fort Lewis is 001353.

The application is available starting January first of each year for the following academic year. We award financial aid on a first-come, most-in-need basis; therefore it is important to meet the suggested deadline listed below.

For FALL and Spring terms complete by February 15th

For SPRING term ONLY complete by September 15th

For SUMMER term ONLY complete by February 1st

The FAFSA calls for tax return data. File your federal tax return as early as possible. If you have not filed a tax return, use accurate estimates, but be aware that subsequent adjustments may delay completion of your aid application file. Late applicants may still be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant and/or a Federal Stafford Loan, but limited need-based funds may not be available to late applicants. Your financial aid file is not complete until all required documents are in our office, all discrepancies have been resolved and you are accepted to Fort Lewis College as a degree-seeking student.

Remember, FAFSA is free; if you’re being charged, you’re being scammed. You can read more about FAFSA scams on the FAFSA website.
