About Sandy Gilpin
Sandy Gilpin is the director and a senior lecturer in the Freshman Math Program at Fort Lewis College. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Gilpin's teaching career includes public schools in Vienna, Virginia and Austin, Texas, as well as private schools in Colorado Springs and Durango. Prior experience includes conducting professional development for educators at McREL, an education research and development organization that has been providing guidance and training for teachers and education leaders since 1966. One of Gilpin's primary interests is giving all students the tools to succeed mathematically, whatever that may mean in their future careers.
Gilpin and her husband Doug have called Durango home for more than 10 years. When not at Fort Lewis, she enjoys running, hiking, skiing, backpacking, chasing after her twin daughters and playing with Miliya, the family dog.
