Graduate students have access to many scholarships, grant opportunities, and the Native American Tuition Waiver as part of their financial aid package.
We would like to encourage you to apply for the scholarships that are appropriate for you as listed below. Some scholarships do require a completed FAFSA Application.
FLC also offers graduate student payment plans to cover other costs.

If you are an enrolled member or the child of an enrolled member of an American Indian Tribal Nation or Alaska Native Village recognized by the US federal government, you may be eligible to attend FLC tuition-free through the Native American Tuition Waiver (NATW).
*The NATW covers only the tuition costs for graduate students. Recipients must pay fees and other educational expenses. Other expenses include, but may not be limited to, per-credit-hour fees, course-specific fees, and expenses for books and supplies. See the Tuition and Fee Schedule above.
Documentation for the Native American Tuition Waiver (NATW) must be received by the Graduate Studies Office no later than the start of the semester. The NATW cannot be applied after the deadline. Once you are admitted to a graduate program, please submit your documentation for the NATW.

Five scholarships valued at $1,000 are available to students who are applying to the MAE-CLD or the CLD Endorsement.
These scholarships seek to motivate teachers and educators in the region to develop their culturally responsive teaching strategies and help multilingual learners to guide substantial improvements in classroom, school, or district teaching and learning outcomes.
Admitted as a MAE-CLD or CLD Endorsement student
April 1 or until all scholarship funds are awarded.
Awards will be given to applicants who demonstrate a significant capacity to leverage sustainable improvements in their classrooms, schools, or district teaching and learning environments. Award decisions will be made approximately two weeks after the application deadline. Notifications will be made by email.
Scholarships will be disbursed in equal amounts for the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Students must be enrolled in four courses per year (including Summer) to be eligible for disbursement.
Students who maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher, will be eligible to re-apply for their second academic year.
Five scholarships valued at $1,000 are available to students who are applying to the MAE-Teacher Leadership or Teacher Leadership Certificate program.
These scholarships seek to motivate the most inspirational teacher leaders in the region to develop their leadership knowledge and skills in order to guide substantial improvements in classroom, school, or district teaching and learning outcomes.

These scholarships support teachers aspiring to become educational leaders in the region as they prepare to become the next generation of strategic change leaders.
Admitted as a MAE-Principal Leadership or Principal Licensure student.
Admitted to the Master of Arts of Education: Special Education or Special Education Endorsement program.
Scholarships will be disbursed in equal amounts for the Fall, Spring, and Summer terms. Students must be enrolled all program coursework per term (including Summer) to be eligible for disbursement.
Financial support for high-quality teachers committed to working in high-need districts
The SWTQP supports committed educators who want to serve in underserved communities around the Four Corners. FLC Masters of Education students enrolled in math, science, or special education licensure programs are eligible.
Each SWTQP recipient will be paid $55,000 (paid out monthly over the two years of the program) that will help to cover FLC MAE tuition costs and other expenses. Participants also received intensive, focused professional development, coaching, and real-world training. Upon earning their FLC MAE, graduates will commit to working in a high-needs school district located in either southwest Colorado or northern New Mexico for three years.
Districts must meet specific criteria as identified by the United States Department of Education. Additional districts may be considered if resident positions cannot be filled in eligible districts.

You may apply for and be awarded more than one scholarship. Students who are awarded a Make a Difference Scholarship will be placed in a Title I school for student teaching.
