Welcome!

Welcome to Fort Lewis College!   As a member of the FLC community, you have access to many services and perks from the Information Technology Department.    To get started, you first need to activate your FLC Network Account.

FLC Network Account:

Your FLC Network Account is used to login to your personal or lab computer, to access the wireless network, for Office365, email, and more.

Follow this link for instructions on “Activating your FLC Network Account”.  www.fortlewis.edu/activate

 

theFort:

Once you have activated your FLC network account, you can login to “theFort”.  This is your portal for technology services such as Canvas, WebOpus, Office 365 and more.  Accessing the portal is easy, just navigate to  https://thefort.fortlewis.edu

 

Email:

Email is the official channel for communication at Fort Lewis College. Your email address is your Fort Lewis Network Account name + "@fortlewis.edu".   You can use webmail to access your email account on any device with a web browser and Internet access.  Look for the Webmail tile on “theFort”.   Learn more about how to configure your email account here:  https://www.fortlewis.edu/it/GettingStarted/Email.aspx

Telephone:

From campus you may call any on-campus phone by dialing the four digit extension. To make off-campus calls, you must dial “9” first.  Long distance calls will require an authorization code.  Dial 9+1+ area code + number.  Request a long distance code at the AskIT Portal.

 


File Storage:

Protect your important files from accidental deletion or computer loss or failure by storing them on your network share!  Files on network shares are backed up automatically for you so they can be restored in the event of a problem.   You have access to a personal network share (M: Drive)  and a department network share.

Microsoft Office 365:

Provides 1TB of cloud storage which is accessible from any Internet connected device. Online versions of popular Microsoft applications are available and allow you to create, share, collaborate, and edit documents anywhere.  Downloadable versions of Office for your personal devices are available too!  Learn more at:  https://www.fortlewis.edu/it/Office365.aspx

 

Canvas:

Canvas is FLC’s online Course Management System. All FLC courses are available in Canvas. Canvas courses can be accessed from “theFort” via the Courses or External Quicklinks tiles. 
 

WebOPUS:

WebOPUS is a portal with many important services for Students, Faculty, and Staff.    To access WebOPUS, go to “theFort” and look for the WebOPUS tile.   

 

Surplus Technology:

You can purchase high quality affordable computers from us for personal use.  All computers on campus are retired after four years and are sold at the Media Services desk in Reed Library, RM 007.
