Coronavirus Updates and Important Information

Fort Lewis College is actively monitoring the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Colorado and taking proactive measures to ensure the health and well-being of each member of our community in accordance with the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  • Individuals who self-attest that they have been fully vaccinated will not be required to wear a mask indoors. In alignment with the CDC and Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, proper distancing, regular COVID-19 testing, and masks are mandatory for all individuals who have not been fully vaccinated, indoors and when physical distancing isn't possible. Face shields may be worn as an additional layer of protection but are not a replacement for masks. Buffs, neck gaiters, and bandanas are not permitted as masks. This policy applies to all visitors, employees, and students.
  • To access campus, students and employees must show a Green Health Pass on the FLC App when arriving at classes or when using other campus services.

Required COVID-19 testing

FLC will require un-vaccinated individuals to take a COVID-19 test prior to engaging in person for Fall 2021. There will also be ongoing testing for those individuals who have received an exemption from the mandatory covid vaccination policy.

Free COVID-19 Testing at FLC

Fort Lewis College offers free COVID-19 testing for all students and employees. The testing site is located at the FLC Stadium Parking Lot and will be open Monday-Saturday through the summer. Testing appointments are made through the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment; be sure to choose FLC Stadium Parking Lot as your testing location.

As faculty, staff, and students learn and work in person on campus, we have hired a third-party vendor to conduct COVID-19 tests for our community. Although testing continues through the summer, our COVID-19 data will not be updated until the start of the Fall 2021 semester.

Take care of yourself and your fellow Skyhawks

In order to stop the spread of COVID-19 on campus and in surrounding communities, we each need to adhere to our pillars of virus mitigation while we are both on and off campus. 

  • Get a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Get tested if you are symptomatic, think you’ve been exposed, or if you work in a high-contact job.
  • Practice six feet of physical distancing between yourself and others.
  • Wear a mask in large outdoor crowds and public indoor settings, especially until you're fully vaccinated.
  • Stay home when you are sick and avoid nonessential travel.
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water. In the absence of soap and water, use hand-sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

COVID-19 symptoms may be flu-like, ranging from mild to serious, and include fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. Individuals with these symptoms and potential exposure to coronavirus are advised to stay home except to get medical care. Call the campus Health Center at 970-247-7355 for guidance.
