As you saw in the news last night, Governor Polis issued a stay-at-home order for Colorado residents. Our partners at the state confirmed more information would come today for essential businesses, including institutions of higher education. This afternoon we received guidance for operating under the stay-at-home order, all of which FLC is already following.
We will continue to coordinate with local public health officials;
Under the new guidance, meal service for residents on campus will be provided on a grab-and-go basis only and will begin this evening.
The FLC coronavirus updates page is still the central source for the most current information during this time. The info phone line and email are also still staffed if you or a student or parent have further questions:
This week, state and federal guidance allowed FLC administration to finalize some financial decisions. The College has begun to support students as follows:
We are diligently analyzing and working with governmental officials on other potential fee refund or rebate decisions. Thank you for your patience through this complex time.
Additionally, Provost Cheryl Nixon sent out a survey via email yesterday to all students regarding technology needs. Academic Affairs has established new grading policies to support students during online delivery. IT continues to troubleshoot for our students and Housing is addressing individual needs for residents.
The College continues to grow the team responding to the COVID-19 crisis. There are now more than 60 individuals revamping operations as necessary, in addition to all faculty who have remarkably adapted their courses to online delivery.
Our local health department has confirmed four cases of COVID-19 locally and continues to stress the importance of the stay-at-home order and social distancing as community spread is assumed. It’s critical we all follow these best practices – continue to care for yourself and others.
As this situation continues to evolve, more information will be shared with campus. Best wishes as classes resume next week! We are eager to get back to the business of learning.
Stay well, Skyhawks.
