Account holds often mean you didn't do something you need to do. Holds can prevent you from doing other important things, like registering for classes and accessing your transcript. Not all holds require immediate attention, but most do.

Admission Hold

Action Required

An Admission hold on your account means that you have not submitted all the documents required to complete your admission file. To get this hold removed, you need to submit the outstanding document(s) to the Admission Office. In most instances, one or more of the following documents listed below is missing from your file:

  1. An official copy of your final high school transcript, showing the date of graduation
    • Ask your high school to send an official copy of your final transcript to the Admission Office (Admission Office | Fort Lewis College | Kroeger Hall | 1000 Rim Dr. | Durango, CO 81301).
       
  2. An official transcript from one or more previously-attended colleges or universities
    • All transfer students and first-year students who participated in a concurrent enrollment program must arrange to have their official transcript(s) sent by their previous institution(s) to the Admission Office (Admission Office | Fort Lewis College | Kroeger Hall | 1000 Rim Dr. | Durango, CO 81301).
       
  3. Residency documents
    • If you are a US citizen seeking an in-state tuition classification, you need to provide a copy of your parent's or parents’ driver’s license(s) (OR, if you are over 23, a copy of your own driver’s license), and a copy of your parent's or parents’ Colorado tax return(s) to the Admission Office (Admission Office | Fort Lewis College | Kroeger Hall | 1000 Rim Dr. | Durango, CO 81301).
    • If you are an undocumented immigrant and you have attended a public or private high school in Colorado or received a GED in Colorado, you may be eligible for the Colorado ASSET in-state tuition program. Visit our In-State Tuition for ASSET Students page for more information.
    • Note: All documents pertaining to your eligibility for in-state tuition must be filed by the first day of the semester.

Athletic Compliance Hold

Action Required

This hold is intended to prevent student athletes from making changes to their class schedules that would affect their eligibility. If you have an Athletic Compliance hold and you want to make changes to your class schedule, email Brenna Anderson.

  • Registering for classes
  • Dropping classes

Dishonesty Hold

Action Required

Contact the Office of the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in Berndt Hall, Room 240, or by phone at 970-247-7314.

This hold will prevent you from:

  • Registering for classes

Disciplinary Hold

Action Required

This hold indicates that you need to contact the Office of Student Affairs regarding a disciplinary matter. Student Affairs is located in Skyhawk Station, Room 230. Email Student Affairs or contact them by phone at 970-247-7573.

This hold will prevent you from:

  • Registering for classes
  • Graduating

Dual Enrollment Schedule Lock Hold

Action Required

Your current class schedule has been approved by your high school counselor. If you would like to make any changes to your class schedule, come to Skyhawk Station or email us at skyhawkstation@fortlewis.edu. 

This hold will prevent you from:

  • Making any changes to your schedule
    • Adding classes
    • Dropping classes

Financial Aid Exit Hold

Action Required

Everyone who takes out federal student loans must do exit counseling through the U.S. Department of Education. When you do it depends on your circumstances. If you drop below 6 credits while attending Fort Lewis College, transfer to another institution, or graduate, you need to do exit counseling.

  • Complete your federal student loan exit counseling on the US Department of Education's Federal Student Aid website.
  • You will need to log in to complete the counseling.
  • The Financial Aid Office will be notified automatically the day after you complete your counseling, and they will remove your hold.

Graduation Hold

A graduation hold on your account means your application for graduation has been approved. Congratulations! If you plan to take courses after your graduation date, you must contact Skyhawk Station. This hold will not prevent from order official transcripts and it will be removed once your degree has been conferred.

Immunization Hold

Action Required

To release this hold, you need to:

  • Get your MMR vaccination at the Health Center on campus, or
  • Have your physician's office or high school fax, mail, or email your immunization record to the FLC Health Center.
    • You can upload your records directly to the Student Health Center.
    • You can also drop your record off at the Health Center in person (Skyhawk Station, Room 170), fax them (970-247-7621), or send them by mail (Student Health Center |1000 Rim Drive | Durango, CO 81301).
  • If you intend to request an exemption, fill out the bottom of page one on the Certificate of Immunization for College Students form and submit it to the Health Center.

Why do I have this hold?

Colorado state law requires all students to submit a copy of their immunization record with proof of two MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccinations to the FLC Student Health Center. An Immunization hold mean that you have not submitted your immunization record, or that your immunization record indicates that you need to comply with the MMR immunization requirements. Non-compliance will result in a non-refundable fee. Learn more on the Health Center's website.

Official College Transcript Hold

Action Required

An Official College Transcript hold means that Fort Lewis College needs a copy of your official transcripts from all other colleges and/or universities you have attended. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the other institution's Registrar's Office to the Fort Lewis College Admission Office.

  • Electronic official transcripts need to be sent to admission@fortlewis.edu.

  • Paper official transcripts need to be mailed to the Admission Office (Admission Office | Fort Lewis College | 1000 Rim Dr. | Durango, CO 81301).

Nondisclosed Transcript Hold

Action Required

Our records indicate that you attended a college or university that you did not disclose on your Application for Admission. We need an official transcript from that institution. Official transcripts must be sent directly from the other institution's Registrar's Office to the Fort Lewis College Admission Office.

Past Due Balance Hold

Action Required

A Past-Due Balance hold means you owe the College money. You need to completely pay off your balance before this hold will be removed. You can pay your bill in person at Skyhawk Station or online by following the steps below.

  • To check your balance and/or pay your bill online:
    • Log in to theFort
    • Go to the "Student Account Suite (Billing Statements)" quicklink
    • Your account information will automatically appear if you are logged in to theFort. From this page you can view your account activity and make payments.
    • You can make payments using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, or with an ACH transaction.
  • If you pay off your balance via Student Account Suite, your hold will be released the following business day. If you need for your hold to be released right after you pay, call Skyhawk Station at 970-247-7301.

Registration Advising Required Hold

Under certain circumstances, you will need to meet with an advisor before you can register. If you are registering for the first time at FLC, as an incoming first-year student (not a transfer student), or have a cumulative GPA below 2.0, please complete one of the following to enable registration.

  • Attend a Pre-Registration event (open to all students)
  • Meet with a Skyhawk Advisor
  • Meet with a Faculty Academic Advisor

Selective Service Hold

Action Required

A Selective Service hold on your account means that you have not yet registered for the Selective Service. Once you register for the Selective Service, please fill out our Selective Service Registration Certification form so we can release your hold.

 

Why do I have this hold?

Colorado law requires all students assigned male at birth who are at least 17 years and 9 months but younger than 26 years to certify that they have registered with the Selective Service before they will be allowed to enroll in classes at state-supported institutions. For more information regarding who must register, visit the Selective Service System's "Who Needs to Register?" page. 

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Selective Service and gender identity, don't hesitate to contact Skyhawk Station. You can also find more information and resources pertaining to LGBTQIA service members' rights from the Modern Military Association of America 

Conscientious objectors are still required to register with the Selective Service. You can find information regarding conscientious objection on the Selective Service website.

Schedule Lock For VA Benefits Hold

Action Required

If you would like to make any changes to your class schedule, come to the Skyhawk Station or email the Skyhawk Station.

This hold will prevent you from:

  • Making any changes to your schedule
    • Adding classes
    • Dropping classes

Study Abroad Hold

If you are studying abroad next semester, this hold is placed on your account to ensure that you don't register for any classes here at Fort Lewis College for that semester. This hold does not require you to take any action.

This hold will prevent you from:

  • Registering for classes

Transcript Special Instructions Hold

Action Required

This hold has been placed on your account to signal to Skyhawk Station and Registrar's Office staff that there are special instructions associated with your transcript order. For example, this hold will be placed on your account if you called to request that we notarize a transcript that you are about to order. No action is required unless you believe this hold has been placed on your account in error, in which case, email contact the Skyhawk Station).
 

This hold will prevent your from:

  • The hold does not prevent your from ordering a transcript, it just prevents your transcript from processing automatically so staff can ensure that your request is fulfilled.
