Writing

Get Started

Are you ready to take the next steps?

Writing majors get active with their craft. You’ll develop your voice and engage in focused study of both creative and critical writing. You’ll get to write across genres to stretch your talents, developing new interests and strengthening current ones. You can share your work at public readings and benefit from presentations by practicing guest writers. You’ll prepare your own and other writers’ work for publication. And by graduation, you will understand how to contribute to the literary world.

Our students take courses in the English Department’s General and Communications tracks, as well, where you can engage with the history of writing and its current-day happenings. Our faculty give your work one-on-one attention to develop your own personal skills and interests for your career in writing.
