Are you ready to take the next steps?
Elementary Education majors analyze children’s learning styles to develop individual teaching strategies. You’ll teach and assess reading, writing, math, science, and social studies from kindergarten through 6th grade. You’ll get to explore the cultural aspects of youth, schools, and communities. You’ll experience live classroom environments with your mentor. You can teach in the Durango area, in your hometown, and overseas.
By graduation, you will qualify for the Colorado Elementary Education Teaching License. You can obtain the Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Endorsement. And you can step immediately into a career as an elementary teacher.
- School-based experiences - As part of the Elementary Education program, you will immerse yourself in intensive courses and school-based experiences for your final three semesters. All Early Childhood Education majors gain more than 1,000 hours of classroom experience with mentor teachers in a variety of local schools.
- TESOL Endorsement - You can obtain a Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Endorsement (known as Teaching English to Students of Other Languages, or TESOL, in other states). This endorsement is highly desired by employers in culturally diverse locations.
