Are you ready to take the next steps?

Computer Engineering majors don’t just study engineering, they do it. Here, you’ll design, build, test, and apply. You’ll integrate software and hardware in applications like robots, guidance systems, and real-time telemetry. You’ll team with other engineers and scientists to create technologies that interact with our world—and you’ll engage with the cultural and social contexts for the problems you’re tackling. And by graduation, you’ll have the technical skills, real-world experience, and global awareness to adapt to an ever-evolving industry and world.

Opportunities

  • Design sequence - The hallmark of our Computer Engineering program is the design sequence. From your sophomore year through your senior year, you will work in design groups of four to eight students. These multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists make an actual physical design product, instead of only a paper study. The groups will always be multidisciplinary—containing, for example, a computer engineer, a physicist, and an electrical engineer—to mirror how professional engineering projects reach completion.
  • Summer internships or employment - During your time in the Computer Engineering program, we will assist you in obtaining paid summer employment or internships with relevant employers, because we agree on the importance of real-world engineering experience as part of your FLC studies.
  • Village Aid Project - As a Computer Engineering student, you can choose to engage those social and cultural contexts by participating in the Village Aid Project, an all-volunteer program that brings students, faculty, and professionals together to improve the infrastructure in impoverished communities in Latin America and Asia. Participants study, organize, design, and assist in the construction of water, sanitations, and other types of projects that improve the quality of life in poor communities around the world. Students at all levels and from all disciplines are encouraged to participate in this unique experience.
  • Expert faculty - Every course you take through the Computer Engineering program will be taught by a faculty member with a Ph.D. and, frequently, years of teaching and industrial experience. Our professors have made a full-time commitment to teaching undergraduate students – that’s why one-on-one and small group attention lies at the heart of our program.

Beyond the Degree

Once you graduate you’ll be qualified for many related graduate programs or to start a career in industry, government, consulting, or education. Computers and the integrated software that go with them are used in most fields you can think of, and our graduates have the flexibility to move between fields during their careers.

This program also prepares you for success in any field by developing not just your math and science aptitude, abut also your communication, teamwork, and creative problem-solving skills. It also prepares you to tackle a range of projects from design to completion.

You will experience applying engineering principles for design and analysis while employing industry workplace standards, but you will also gain an understanding of how the tools, methods, and applications you’re practicing can impact global economic, environmental, and societal issues.
