The 2-year NIH-MARC Training Program provides students with an opportunity to conduct faculty-mentored research at least 12 hours/week during the academic year and full time during the summer months.  Students chosen for the Program will interact with other trainees and participate in activities that enrich their research experience.  Students will also participate in special workshops that are offered to help prepare them for graduate school and careers in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

In addition to the above, MARC U*STAR Awardees will receive:

  • a monthly stipend for 12 months
  • payment for tuition and fees (up to the federal guidelines)
  • funding  for travel to scientific meetings
  • funding for research supplies and materials
  • travel, housing and food while at a research university for one summer
