Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the Pre-Trainee Program, students:

  • Must be enrolled at Fort Lewis College
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident or a native of the U.S. Pacific Islands or U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Must be an ethnic minority, defined as Native American, African American, Hispanic, or Pacific Islander
  • Must have an interest in biomedical or behavioral science research
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and show promise to achieve and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • Must plan to enroll in the career symposium and research ethics courses
  • Must plan to conduct faculty-directed research during their first two years of college
