The following is a list of all lower division courses regularly taught by the mathematics department. If you have any questions contact a faculty member, they will be happy to answer any questions you have. MATH 113 -  This course prepares students for a successful learning experience in MATH 121 and subsequent courses. Algebraic skills and understanding are emphasized. Topics include simplifying algebraic expressions and equations, an introduction to functions, compositions and inverses. Linear functions, quadratic functions, and power functions are examined in depth with an emphasis on factoring and exponent rules. Exponential and logarithmic functions are introduced.  Credits: 3 Clock Hours - (Lect-Lab): (3-0) gtPathways: MA1 Prerequisites: Computed CALC Placement Score 113 MATH 121 - Pre-Calculus This course covers topics in algebra and trigonometry necessary for students who plan to enroll in MATH 221. Topics include functions, compositions and inverses, and domain and range. Polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions are examined in depth with an emphasis on symbolic methods, parameters that describe each family of functions, and multiple representations of functions.
