“What we’ve tried to do is teach you the basics that you’ll need to live the life you want to lead, to accomplish the enormous goals that you want to accomplish, to climb metaphorical imposing cliffs and mountains that lay in your future,” he said. “In a way, you’ve spent your entire life on belay, relatively safely tied into the rope while your mentors have taught you how to lead. From this day forward, you’re on the sharp end of the rope.”

For more than 200 Fort Lewis College students, Winter Commencement will mark a triumphant conclusion to their undergraduate academic career. Winter Commencement takes place on Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Whalen Gym. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

For some Fort Lewis College graduates, a college education isn’t an adventure to embark upon alone – they brought their family with them. At least five sets of siblings graduated together in the Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremony, and countless others were joined by their alumni siblings in the stands.
