Ever wanted to try rock climbing?  Come visit the climbing wall every Thursday evening for an introductory clinic on the basics of rock climbing.  This is a great way to be introduced to this amazing sport in a low key environment.  Non-OP members are welcome.  Cost:  Free!

Come spend a weekend practicing yoga in a beautiful desert landscape with a few side hikes thrown in as well.  We will depart campus on Saturday morning and return on Sunday afternoon.  This trip is open to all levels and abilities.  Trip sign-up begins Monday, March 30th.  Cost:  $40 w/out food or $60 w/food (includes transportation, camping and park entry).

This group will help you work with your fears in social situations and improve your social skills. Topics covered are geared to each group, and usually include: 

  • Practicing conversation skills (starting and keeping conversations going)
  • Training in assertiveness
  • Building confidence to speak up in class
  • Changing negative thinking patterns
  • Making friends and getting more comfortable in social situations

When?            Tuesdays from 3:15 – 4:45 p.m., starting February 10, 2015. The meetings will take place weekly for a total of 8 sessions. (No meeting during Spring Break—the week of March 23 – 27.)

Where?           SU 213, the La Plata Room, which is in the Student Union Building, across from the Ballroom and next to the Ballroom Lounge area. Group size is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 participants.          

Cost?               The group is FREE, thanks to sponsorship by the Program for Academic Advancement (PAA) and the FLC Counseling Center.

Want to fast track your kayaking skills?  Participating in this intensive course is a great way to improve your overall paddling skills.  The course consists of two evening classroom sessions and two full weekend with lots of on the water time.  Course sign-up begins Monday, March 30th.  Cost:  $100 (includes transportation, boating equipment & instruction).  **For certification participants must become an ACA Member ($40) + pay SEIC registration ($25)
