Dear new Hispanic student,

I am writing this letter to personally welcome you to Fort Lewis College on behalf of our college’s Hispano Center called El Centro de Muchos Colores. As coordinator of the El Centro, I want to invite you to a special open house we have planned just for you and your family when you arrive on campus this Fall.

I would love to meet you and welcome any visiting family members as you arrive. El Centro will hold an open house on the Thursday before classes start, August 27th, between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at our cultural resource center in El Centro, located across from the bookstore on the lower level of the Student Union.

Please stop by to meet me and get a chance to chat with other students as well as our supportive faculty and staff members that make up our Fort Lewis College Hispanic family. El Centro has a great information packet for all new Hispanic students who come in our doors! And, we can provide some useful and practical orientation tips to help make your first year at Fort Lewis College a successful and enjoyable one. Come learn about how to find Hispanic scholarships, get a job on campus, join a club, participate in our cross-campus cultural celebrations and much more!

If you cannot make the open house on Thursday, look for our El Centro booth and Latino music at the Student Services Fair Friday from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the plaza in front of Reed Library. You can pick up your special Hispanic Student welcome packet from our booth at the fair!

We look forward to welcoming you as part of our campus community. I hope to meet you and your family at one or both of our orientation events. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (970) 247-7290. I’m here to help!
