On top of the Student Union's Hermosa Terrace
Fort Lewis College’s Student Union is the centerpiece of campus. In 2010, a 38,000 square foot addition was built onto the existing College Union Building. This addition houses FLC’s expanded food service offerings, including a larger dining room and the Rocket Grill.
Following the completion of the addition, the existing College Union Building was completely renovated and today houses most of the major campus offices and organizations. New facilities were also created, such as the Ballantine Media Center.
In total, the new Student Union is more than 100,000 square feet, with the addition earning a LEED Gold rating. It is estimated that earning a LEED Gold rating added between $720,000 and $1.8 million to construction costs.
