Department of Psychology
The mission of the Psychology Department is to provide top-quality education in the diverse content of modern American Psychology. We emphasize the skills of critical evaluation and research competence throughout the curriculum, as well as the practical application of psychological science for human benefit across a wide range of areas ranging from counseling and community service to child development and an appreciation for diversity. Through our varied course offerings, we also aim to teach students effective speaking, computer literacy, and career planning in psychology, and we also support student success via personal development and an appreciation for the power of education. We strive to achieve this mission within the framework of the Fort Lewis College liberal arts tradition and the college-wide assessment goals.
