Purpose of Recreational Services

Recreational Services provides quality facilities and diverse programming that encourages student engagement, leadership and an active exploration of sustainable lifestyles.

Learning Outcomes for Outdoor Pursuits

  • PLO A: Students who engage in Student Affairs will demonstrate the skills necessary for effective collaboration, problem solving, and communication.
  • PLO B: Peak Experiences (Outdoor Orientation) participants will articulate that they experienced strong peer relationships and a smooth transition into college life.
  • PLO C: Student Outdoor Leaders will demonstrate personal development in areas such as leadership, communication, program facilitation and risk management.
  • PLO D: Student Outdoor Leaders will demonstrate a proficiency in leadership, basic backcountry skills, group facilitation, and trip logistics.
  • PLO E: Outdoor Pursuits student employees can identify an awareness of diversity and articulate how to contribute to an inclusive social climate. 

Learning Outcomes for the Student Life Center

  • Student employees that work in the Student Life Center will demonstrate the collaborative work skills necessary for an effective work environment.
  • Student leaders that work in the Student Life Center can articulate how they utilize critical thinking skills as they relate to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Student personal trainers will demonstrate the ability to treat a variety of fitness levels and to adapt exercises to meet individual needs.
  • Student employees can identify an awareness of diversity and articulate how to contribute to an inclusive social climate. 

Learning Outcomes for Intramural and Club Sports

  • Student employees that work in Intramural and Club Sports will demonstrate the collaborative work skills necessary for an effective work environment.
  • As a result of their participation in club sport leadership roles, Club Sport Officers will identify improvements in critical thinking, organizational skills, and communication.
  • As a result of their employment within Intramural Sports, officials will articulate improvements in conflict resolution.
  • Student leaders that work in Intramural and Club Sports will identify 3 individual leadership goals and implement a plan for progress.
  • Intramurals and Club Sports student employees can identify an awareness of diversity and articulate how to contribute to an inclusive social climate.
