Jill Wiegert
Director, Student Union and Event Services

Hometown: Grand Junction, Colorado

Jill is a Fort Lewis College alumna, who earned her degree in Psychology and has lived in Durango for 36 years. She also received the Certification for Auxiliary Professionals in 2014. Jill just completed her 30th year working for her alma mater in several different roles. She is currently involved with making the Student Union as user friendly as possible. “The Student Union (SU) should be the hub of campus! Students should feel like they belong when they visit the SU”. She strongly believes in Servant Leadership and leading with the heart. Jill enjoys fishing, boating, reading and watching Durango’s wildlife. She is an animal lover and longs to volunteer some of her time at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT.

Amber Grenhart
Assistant Director, Student Union and Event Services

Hometown: Lakewood, Colorado

Amber graduated from Fort Lewis College with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. She began her career with her alma mater shortly after graduation. Amber has worked in the Student Union in different capacities. In her current role, she over sees operations, facilities, event services, technical services and Information Desk. She loves working for the college that gave her so much in her undergrad and is grateful to be a part of such a wonderful team. Outside of her career, Amber loves to spend time with her husband, dog and cat. After work and on the weekends, you will always find Amber outside enjoying the outdoors, whether it is dirt biking, mountain biking, camping, rafting, snowboarding.

Megan Maurillo
Event Services Coordinator

Hometown: Skaneateles (Skinny-Atlas), New York

Megan graduated from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She has lived in Durango for 11 years working in Marketing, Outreach and Youth Development including two previous contracts with FLC. She has enjoyed coaching figure skating and teaching after school art programs. Here at the college organizing and planning events while getting to collaborate with the community and campus is a delight. With her eye for design, bringing people together and attention to what makes a successful event, it is a pleasure for her to assist you on the most beautiful campus in the Southwest! In Megan’s free time she enjoys being creative, live music (she has seen her favorite band over 100 times!), anytime on the water she can get, traveling and photography and believes this little pocket of the world has a lifetime of places to explore. Having been to just about 40 states and spent several months in Italy working on organic farms she is always looking forward to the next adventure!

Juan Lopez
Technical Services Coordinator, Student Union and Event Services

Hometown: La Jara, Colorado

Juan graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and a minor in Political Science.  As our Technical Services Coordinator, he’s always happy to lend a hand and help you out with any “techie” issue you may have.  He and his family have called Durango home since 2007 and loves everything about living here.  He is the rocking bass player in his band Little Wilderness, and loves to hike, camp, and snowboard and always enjoys time spent with his wife, daughter, family and friends.

Charlie Modrell

General Laborer I - Student Union and Event Services

Hometown: Southern California

Charlie transferred to Fort Carson, CO in December of 1968 having just returned from Vietnam as a combat soldier. There he helped to train infantry soldiers. He was discharged from the Army in June of 1969 and returned home to southern CA. He worked for the LAPD as a mechanics helper in a motorcycle shop for the next two years. Charlie made many motorcycle trips to CO and moved to the state in January of 1972 to become a finish carpenter. He began a carpentry contracting business in 1977, employing 10-15 carpenters and laborers. In 2010 he sold closed his business and sold his assets in order to move to Durango. Charlie enjoys working at Fort Lewis College and providing customer service to groups and individuals during his evening and weekend shifts. When he’s not working, he enjoys riding motorcycles, doing wood work, mechanics and reading.

Steven Sandner

General Laborer I - Student Union and Event Services

Hometown: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Steve graduated from Metro State College (Denver)/ Colorado Aero Tech (Broomfield, Co.) as a private pilot, and with a degree in Aircraft Maintenance. After 3 years of flight line service in Colorado Springs, Canon City, Farmington, N.M., and Durango, he met his wife Martha while she was attending FLC. They were married and made Durango their home. They have four children, all of whom graduated from, or are currently enrolled at FLC. They currently have five grandchildren living in Cortez, Co. He started his own commercial cleaning service in the mid-1980s and brought his expertise to FLC in 2013. Steve enjoys movies, music, hiking and camping, and auto repair/restoration. But he mostly enjoys being a husband, father, and grandfather. Steve’s strengths are dependability, responsibility,dedication, attention to detail, and self-motivation. His goal here at FLC is to maintain the Student Union as a clean, safe and enjoyable environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Wil Albo

General Laborer I - Student Union and Event Services

Wil is a native to Durango and has enjoyed working at Fort Lewis College over the past 19 years in a few different capacities.  In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, camping and spending time with friends and family. Wil believes Durango has always been a great place to live and work. He has met so many students and staff over the years that have made his job here enjoyable.
