Teacher education

We have offered high quality teacher education courses and strong school district partnerships for over 100 years in the Four Corners region. Each year about 50 students graduate from our personalized programs. Most students continue to teach in the region or return to their home towns to begin their teaching careers.

Most of our teacher education programs meet requirements for your Colorado teacher license. Teacher License Reciprocity

Fort Lewis College’s curriculum is designed to meet the Colorado education requirements only, but the Education Commission of the States reciprocity information shows students how to use such a service on their website. Fort Lewis College’s program is not designed to meet other states’ educational requirements for licensure.

If you are planning to seek professional licensure or certification in a state other than Colorado, it is strongly recommended that you contact the appropriate licensing entity in the state in which you are, or plan to be located.

Colorado is a member of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) through the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education (WICHE)
