Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Endorsement

If your major is Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or you are pursuing a secondary or K-12 teaching certificate, earning a CLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) endorsement in addition to your teaching licensure will help you to best serve your students in local, national and international educational contexts.

Colorado is one of the states with the highest numbers of students designated as English Learners, and numbers of emergent bilinguals continue to rise across the nation. This endorsement prepares you to work effectively with these students in your own classroom.

This highly-marketable endorsement will require additional coursework which, combined with field placement opportunities, will provide a deeper understanding of the English language, the needs of diverse learners, and techniques for culturally-responsive instruction in a wide variety of contexts.

In addition, you can also add a Bilingual Specialist Endorsement (CLD-S) to your CLD endorsement and teaching license. This endorsement requires the demonstration of language proficiency in Spanish or Navajo and an additional course in bilingual methods beyond the CLD coursework. See the requirements for this additional endorsement here.

Once you complete the coursework you can submit the CLD Application.
