School Year Services
Upward Bound Students in Class

Advisors meet with students weekly at their high school to provide many different services including:

  • Regular academic, career, and college advising sessions
  • Group Workshops meant to help students with study skills, ACT prep, Organization, Stress Management, and other skills necessary in high school and college
  • Mandatory tutoring/after school advising sessions to help students develop study skills and progress academically
  • Assistance with career exploration, college admissions, financial aid, scholarship research, and ACT test preparation
  • A stipend of up to $40 per month based upon the student’s commitment/participation, attitude in the program, and performance in school

Students and Parents also participate in quarterly mandatory Saturday Sessions meant to keep them informed about upcoming events and student/program progress.

Student Expectations

During the school year Upward Bound students are expected to:

  • Be in school, on time every day.
  • Maintain a 2.5 grade point average or attend tutoring if the student has below a 2.5, or any D's or F's.
  • Utilize a planner to keep track of all school assignments and extracurricular activities. 
  • Participate in all weekly group meetings during lunch.
  • Attend all parent and student meetings.
