Re-dubbed an “extravaganza”, this year’s event went off without a hitch. Writing Program faculty members Michelle Bonanno, Mark Brenden, Eric Notaro, and Rebecca Nuffer joined Writing Center tutors Lara Cladny and Katie Ratko for a day spent working with students from Durango, Cortez, Mancos, and Pagosa Springs high schools. The goal of the extravaganza is to help those students hone their writing skills on scholarship application essays. Given the fact that scholarships can range from hundreds of dollars per semester to a full, four-year ride, a lot is at stake.
We hope to see some of these talented writers enter Fort Lewis in the fall as freshmen ready for the Fort Lewis College experience.
