FLC School of Business Administration reaccredited by AACSB International
The Fort Lewis College School of Business Administration (SOBA) has kept its place among the best business schools in the world. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, or AACSB International, announced that Fort Lewis College has extended its business accreditation. This puts FLC in rarified air as only about five percent of the world’s business schools have achieved AACSB accreditation.
“Well done to the FLC School of Business Administration for earning reaccreditation from AACSB International,” says FLC President Dene Thomas. “Distinctions like this are a mark of excellence given only to quality business programs.”
"AACSB commends each institution for their exemplary work in holding the highest honor in business school accreditation," Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International, remarked in an AACSB press release. "During this peer-review process schools must demonstrate alignment with AACSB's global accreditation standards, as well as how they encourage engagement, innovation, and impact across the communities they serve."
“The faculty, staff, administration and students are all pleased to hear that the hard work and effort put forward by the School of Business Administration to provide a high-quality education has been recognized by an extension of our AACSB accreditation,” says Dr. Paul McGurr, interim dean of SOBA. “SOBA has been continuously accredited by AACSB since 1974 when we were one of the first undergraduate-only schools of business to obtain accreditation. It is a result of the commitment of the SOBA faculty and deans, past and present, that we have been able to maintain accreditation through changing times and changing standards.”
Today, the programs within the FLC School of Business Administration are some of the College’s most valuable and popular fields of study. The AACSB accreditation is a reassurance of the quality of the programs offered.
“We remain the only business school on the Western Slope of Colorado to have AACSB accreditation,” says Dr. McGurr. “We maintain the same accreditation of quality management education as do the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, the University of Denver and other larger schools of business administration. I am honored to be the dean as we achieve this extension of accreditation.”
