Tribal Water Media Fellows August Mrakuzic (Anthropology, '23)and Klara Goldman (Geology, 23) have published their work on KSUT. Mrakuzic story focuses on a Denver college student who brought water and aid to her home village in Tanzania. Goldman’s story explores how a Colorado mountain man became a beaver believer. The fellowship is a collaboration between KSUT Public Radio, Fort Lewis College, and Rocky Mountain PBS. The Walton Family Foundation supports the project.

KSUT Tribal Radio's Sarah Flower reports on the $2.9 million revamping of Skyhawk Hall, noting that the nursing training facility is expected to house the CU Nursing Fort Lewis College Collaborative, an innovative partnership to increase the diversity of nurses in the Four Corners region.
 

The Inside Higher Ed reports that three public colleges in Colorado have come together to request more funding for rural education. Adam State University, Western Colorado University, and Fort Lewis College are asking for $9 million more than what they get to help expand the success of their students' futures and careers.

The Durango Herald reports that renovations are underway for FLC's new nursing facility. The college is renovating the Skyhawk Hall with the University of Colorado Anschutz. The facility will house the new nursing program.

The historical site of Fort Garland opened an exhibit about the history of Buffalo soldiers and Native Americans. Museum officials and artists recently screened a film on the exhibit at FLC, addressing the erasure of both Black and Native people from history, , reports KSDJ.

The Durango Herald reports a 28-foot by 28-foot new scoreboard is FLC’s latest tool to boost recruitment, enhance the student-athlete experience and fire up crowds during football games.

Beth LaShell, Director of the Old Fort at FLC, received the Bloom Award from the Colorado State Land Board at the agency’s annual awards ceremony in Denver. “It is a remarkable site,” said William Woolston, Field Operations Supervisor for the State Land Board. “To say the trust land that Beth manages is well stewarded is an understatement.”
