It was an honor to jury this exhibition and to encounter such a high caliber of work across disciplines. The breadth of submissions speaks to a program grounded in rigor, experimentation, and a sustained commitment to critical inquiry. Selecting from such a strong and diverse pool proved exceptionally difficult as many works demonstrated both technical proficiency and conceptual depth.
What ultimately guided my decisions was not simply resolution or polish, but evidence of an ongoing practice in artists who are building worlds and pushing beyond the expected. The selected works reflect a depth and discipline of thinking as much as of making. These students demonstrate curiosity about materials and methods, an interdisciplinary openness, and an ability to ask questions without easy answers. This exhibition is a testament to the vitality of Fort Lewis College's arts program. It reveals a culture that encourages experimentation, supports ambitious inquiry, and fosters artists who are unafraid to think and make outside the box.
