$600,000 announced for FLC’s Geosciences, Physics and Engineering Hall

The Fort Lewis College Foundation Executive Board has agreed that the Foundation will provide $602,000 to Fort Lewis College in support of the Geosciences, Physics and Engineering Hall. Construction on the new facility can be viewed live on our Campus Webcam.

“We are pleased to continue to fulfill our mission in support of Fort Lewis College,” said Board Chair Gene Bradley. “The impact of the GPE Hall on the FLC Geosciences, Physics and Engineering programs will be huge for FLC, those who employ our graduates, and for generations of students to come. We encourage others to join with us in meeting the College’s $4.2 million matching commitment to the state of Colorado.”

The $35 million addition to campus is slated to open in fall 2016.  The academic programs that it will house are among FLC’s strongest and fastest growing in terms of enrollment.  The College is matching the state’s contribution on an $8 to $1 basis, meaning that FLC is providing $4.2 million in funding.  It is anticipated that private donors and foundations interested in strengthening the academic enterprise at FLC will provide most of that match.

“What a great statement by our Foundation Board in support of students and employers in Colorado and the Four Corners region,” said President Dene Thomas. “The Foundation continues to make a difference at FLC through their time, talent and treasure.  I appreciate the Board’s passion and dedication, which strengthens Fort Lewis College. “

The FLC Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization that exists solely to encourage, receive, invest and administer private funds in support of Fort Lewis College’s mission, projects and initiatives as approved by the FLC Board of Trustees.  Founded in 1969, the Foundation manages over $25 million in assets.  The Foundation provides nearly $1 million annually in scholarships to deserving students, has provided philanthropic funding for capital construction and improvements, and provides funds that develop and enhance the Fort Lewis experience for students, faculty, staff and the region.
