The Fort Lewis College Performing Arts Department opened its fall season with the first weekend of "Ordinary Days" and a faculty piano recital by artist-in-residence Holly Quist, Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA). The season continues through the semester with theatre productions, faculty recitals, and student ensemble concerts.
"Ordinary Days" returns for a second weekend, Sept. 24–26 at 7:30 pm in the FLC Black Box Theatre. The musical by Adam Gwon follows four New Yorkers whose lives intersect in unexpected ways, revealing moments of connection and meaning in everyday life.
In October, FLC music students and faculty take the stage for a range of performances. Eun Ah Roh, DMA, will give a faculty voice recital on October 2, followed by a performance by artist-in-residence Dongmin Byeon, DMA, on October 4. Both recitals will be in Roshong Recital Hall in the Jones Building.
The Midday Music Concert Series continues on select Tuesdays throughout the semester. Music students perform works across a variety of genres, styles, and historical periods.
Later in October, the Community Concert Hall will host the FLC Jazz Concert, the FLC Band and Orchestra Concert, and the FLC Choir Concert on October 30.
In November, FLC students will stage William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in the FLC Mainstage Theatre during the first two weekends of the month.
Roshong Recital Hall will also host the Percussion Ensemble, the Jazz Combo, and a violin-and-piano recital featuring Quist and Richard Silvers, DMA.
The season wraps up in early December with an FLC Jazz Concert at the Community Concert Hall and Holiday on the Hill, a longtime campus tradition that marks the close of the semester.
