Two Fort Lewis College Katz School of Business students traveled to Park City, Utah, this month to attend the Center for the Public Trust's Student Leadership Conference, a two-day program focused on ethical leadership, character development, and strengths-based networking.

Feliciana Garcia, a junior majoring in Business Administration, and Wisteria Lewis, a senior majoring in Accounting, were nominated by professor Kaori Takano, Ph.D., and participatedin the conference June 22–23, 2026. Their attendance was fully funded by the Center for the Public Trust (CPT).

Garcia reflected on the experience: "I am grateful for this experience gaining skills, purpose, and stories that will impact my leadership in the future. I also got to learn that peaks and valleys in life don't represent us, but how we react to them. The conference gave me confidence in ways I never knew I needed."

Takano, who secured the scholarship nominations, called the conference a strong investment in developing future ethical leaders.
