DURANGO, Colo. — Fort Lewis College is ranked No. 29–39 among Top Public Schools in the National Liberal Arts Colleges category of the U.S. News & World Report 2027 Best Colleges rankings, released today.
FLC also placed No. 184–203 overall among National Liberal Arts Colleges. This is the first year FLC has been ranked among the nation’s liberal arts colleges. In previous years, U.S. News listed it in the Regional Colleges West category.
FLC’s undergraduate engineering program climbed to No. 163, up from No. 226 last year, and its undergraduate psychology program rose to No. 395 from No. 568. FLC was also recognized among the top 200 performers on Social Mobility, a measure of how well schools enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants.

The 2027 edition of the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings evaluates more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities, using up to 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate success.

U.S. News publishes the Best Colleges rankings each year to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of undergraduate programs at the country’s colleges and universities. The rankings, which date back to 1983, offer detailed information on the institutions and data on factors such as graduation rates and post-graduate earnings.
