Four Katz students gained behind-the-scenes access to the nation's top financial regulators this June. This trip marks the third annual experience with advisor, Lacey Donley, Ph.D., in which students witnessed the printing of US currency firsthand and met with policymakers at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
Students gained insights into the regulation and enforcement of companies traded on US exchanges amid emerging technologies, such as cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence. An exciting addition to the trip was the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), where students discussed the importance of maintaining confidence in the nation’s banking system, and heightened demand for accountants in public service.
