Centura Health partnering with FLC on state-of-the-art facility

December 13, 2022

Greetings on this wintery morning,

Centura Health – Mercy Hospital has been a partner of Fort Lewis College for 18 years, providing expert care in sports medicine and orthopedic treatment to our student-athletes and sponsoring various events and initiatives on campus over the years. I’m honored to announce that Centura Health has partnered with us, investing $4 million for a facilities renovation and support for critical student wellness programs and cultural celebrations, including Fiesta on the Mesa and Hozhoni Days.

The Centura Sports Performance Center will be a state-of-the-art sports medicine, orthopedics, athletics training, and rehabilitation facility accessible to all students. Renovations will take place in the aquatics center, further transforming that part of campus into one of the best health and wellness quads at any college in Colorado. Additionally, an essential part of this collaboration is Centura Health’s support for programming addressing food security, suicide awareness, and overdose prevention.

You can read about this partnership on the FLC news site.

This philanthropic investment furthers Centura’s tradition of serving the FLC community, and I’m proud our teams formalized a holistic plan to improve student health and wellbeing. Huge kudos to the FLC Foundation team as well. They always bring their A-game, but this year has been full of gifts supporting our students and our strategic initiatives.

To quote our esteemed athletic director, it’s a great day to be a Skyhawk!

Best, Tom
