School of Business Administration receives grant for Wells Fargo Native American Business Scholarship

$10,000 made available to four Native American business students

Fort Lewis College’s (FLC) School of Business Administration has been granted $10,000 for the Wells Fargo Native American Business Scholarship. Four Pell eligible, Native American tuition waiver recipient business students will be awarded $2,500 each.

“The School of Business Administration is about creating opportunities for students,” said Steve Elias, dean of the FLC School of Business Administration. “This is an excellent opportunity for several Native American students to receive financial assistance for studying business at Fort Lewis College. Our business school is comprised of approximately 30 percent Native American students and has a very active chapter of American Indian Business Leaders.”

“Wells Fargo is proud to be part of the Native American Business Scholarship Program at Fort Lewis College,” said Mike Fields, Senior Business Relationship Manager for Wells Fargo in Durango. “Helping talented students have access to a strong Business College is an important part of shaping tomorrow's business community.”

Fort Lewis College also recognizes that the remaining costs of attendance after the tuition waiver are financially burdensome for some Native American students. Over 30 percent of the Pell eligible, or low-income, Native American business students are also first-generation college students. These awards will allow Fort Lewis College to recruit talented Native American business students that might not otherwise choose to attend college.
