John Wright (Geology, '74) significantly reduced the environmental impact of Antarctic travel in 2006 by pioneering the construction of a road from the coast of the continent to the South Pole.

Senior Engineering majors Eric Hicks and James Schneider, along with Visiting Professor of Physics & Engineering Randy Palmer, won first place in Telluride's Startup Weekend competition with their RoofDogs idea.
