Majel Boxer Research Fellowship

Chair and Associate Professor of Native American and Indigenous Studies​, Dr. Majel Boxer was awarded a research fellowship from the Buffalo Bill Center of The West to explore the cultural arts of Dakota women and men with particular focus on 19th and early 20th century materials and techniques.

NIH Native students

Four FLC students were featured in an article by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on Native American students doing internships with the National Institute of Health: junior Exercise Science major Skyler Bordeaux, senior Public Health major Cherella Hughes, freshman Biology major Randall Hughes, and sophomore Chemistry major Uriah Contreras.

Standing Rock

Over Thanksgiving Break, 50 students, faculty, and staff traveled to South Dakota to join the protest at Standing Rock, bringing donated supplies. Upon their return, they staged a non-violent rally in downtown Durango.
