The FLC Climbing Team, Fort Lewis College's newest club sport, reached great heights this year in its first year of competition. The team competes in the USA Climbing’s collegiate division in male and female speed climbing, sport climbing, and bouldering events for both individual and team scores.

Now this is a wilderness-style graduation! That's not to say the walk down the stage in Whalen Gymnasium isn't lovely and powerful. But some graduates like to go out the same way they spent a good chunk of their time while at FLC: Rafting down a river, camping in the wilderness, and hanging with good friends who like the to do same.

Fort Lewis College was a prominent presence at the 44th annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23, 24, and 25. On May 5, we held one of the most enjoyable events of the year at Fort Lewis College: the FLC Retiree Luncheon. This is the time when our retired faculty and staff come back to campus to welcome the new class of retirees. 

Congratulations to Education major Ashley Aragon, this year's recipient of the Ida Welsh Cook Martin Scholarship. The award is for $15,000 per year for up to three years.

Congratulations go out to sophomore Cellular & Molecular Biology major Kaila Cruz, who was awarded the Ralph Milo Martin Memorial Scholarship, providing her $15,000 for up to three years.

The top two winners of the Campus Writing Competition were freshman Montana Tucker, with her essay, “The Chocolate Trade, Chaco Canyon, 800AD-1200AD” and senior Kathryn Ross, with her essay, “Mental Imagery of Runners."
