Our Services -

The Office of Financial Aid processes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine a student’s eligibility for need-based aid and federal loans

Need-based aid consists of:

  • Federal, State, and Institutional Grants
  • Work-study
  • Federal loans 

Additional Services:

At Fort Lewis College, students are assigned a financial aid counselor according to their last name.  Counselors are available to: 

  • Counsel students and parents about the financial aid process;
  • assist students with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
  • explain the criteria and award limits on Federal, State, and Institutional awards   so that students can manage their funds, and understand how to keep their aid.

How To Check Your Financial Aid Status

Award information and outstanding requirements can be viewed on the student’s WebOPUS account.

  1. Sign into WebOPUS via theFort
  2. Click on the Financial Aid tab
  3. Click on My Overall Status of Financial Aid
  4. Click on appropriate aid year
  5. If you have outstanding requirements click on student requirements

How To Borrow Federal Student Loans?

 If you are a first time federal loan borrower at Fort Lewis College you should:

  1. Sign into WebOPUS via theFort and accept your loans.
  2. Go to and complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (You will need your social security number, date of birth, and FAFSA PIN)

How To Check Your Overall Loan Balance

On the National Student Loan Database System you can find your total student loan debt,  get contact information on your loan provider, and complete exit counseling. To sign in:

  1. Go to the web site.
  2. Click on Financial Aid Review
  3. Read the Privacy Statement and click Accept
  4. Read the Encryption Statement and choose Accept or Decline
  5. Enter your social security number, date of birth, and FAFSA PIN
