14th Annual Village Aid Project Celebration on November 7

This summer, Engineering students and faculty volunteering with the Village Aid Project completed a crucial water system project in Than Thuang, Myanmar. The group is hosting an evening of conversation and stories from their experience in Myanmar at VAP’s annual celebration and fundraiser on November 7 in the Fort Lewis College Student Union Ballroom.

Each year, VAP travels with students and faculty as well as community partners to corners of the world where engineered water systems are much needed. VAP is a registered student organization at Fort Lewis College whose mission is to partner with needy communities in the developing world to find sustainable solutions to their critical engineering problems.

Each year thousands of hours are volunteered to complete the projects and to fundraise the program costs; each village project needs about $17,000 in funding. Between students participating in unique real-world work, faculty organizing fundraising efforts, and local professional mentors volunteering their expertise, it’s a true community effort.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with activities and displays. The program is from 7-8 p.m. and will included Myanmar updates as well as details for future programming in Nicaragua. Light refreshments will be served.
