Safer at Home for FLC

Dear FLC faculty and staff,

This past week, the Governor’s Office provided more guidance regarding the Safer at Home phase of coronavirus mitigation that will slowly become our new statewide reality after April 27. We’ve attached some graphics from the state for more information.

The guidance for Colorado institutions of higher education is to stay the course, and continue serving our students through online education. We are excited to soon move into the summer term, with over 80 online course offerings over the months of May and June. Thank you to all the faculty and staff who worked on making this happen.

Likewise, campus services and office-based functions will continue to be provided remotely with only a few exceptions, such as providing summer housing for a small number of residents. Staff and faculty who have been working remotely will continue to do so, and buildings on campus will remain closed. Until further notice, campus operations will not change under the “safer at home” executive order.

Any staff and faculty who are currently authorized to come to campus periodically or regularly for work will remain authorized. Please be in contact with your supervisor regularly about your schedule and expectations, as those may change to enable better social distancing. Employees who come to campus are advised to monitor for coronavirus symptoms before coming to campus (including checking for elevated temperature), wear a face covering* when in proximity to other people, wash hands frequently, practice disciplined social distancing, stay home when sick. Your supervisor may have other guidance for you as well.

Thank you for your dedication to FLC and patience during these challenging times. More communication will be sent as soon as there are any significant changes to our operations. Stay safe!

*Updated guidance August 2020: public health officials have advised against using face coverings such as buffs, neck gaiters, or bandanas as they do not effectively reduce the spread of respiratory droplets. Masks, either multi-layered cloth or surgical, with ear loops or ties and that fit snugly around the chin, mouth, and nose are recommended.
