Sign up for Peak Experiences this summer

Making the transition to college life can be a challenge for some students. New place, new people, new routine and expectations. For several years, Fort Lewis College (FLC) has run its Peak Experiences programs during the summer months to help introduce students to college life and connect them with a community to lean on. Now FLC is expanding its Peak Experiences offerings to meet the needs and interests of its diverse student body.

Beginning in July, FLC students will have four Peak Experiences opportunities to choose from, each with a different focus. Food and lodging are included in the cost of the program and financial assistance is available for those who qualify. For more information, visit www.fortlewis.edu/peakexperiences.

Summer 2018 Peak Experiences Programs

The Eco Roadshow: An exploration of Durango’s farms, rivers, solar arrays, and wildlands

Join the Environmental Center’s student staff to harvest veggies and cook a meal on a local organic farm, whitewater raft the Animas River while learning about water issues in the West, and plant native grasses to restore a mountain wetland (and thus our drinking water). Nights will be filled with campfires, stars, and stories. Together, we will build powerful friendships, a real connection to this place, unforgettable memories, and a deeper understanding of social justice and sustainability through DOING it.
