SOBA hosting Southwest Economic Outlook on January 8

Fort Lewis College is hosting the 27th annual Southwest Economic Outlook on January 8 at the Community Concert Hall from 8 to 11 a.m. Experts in business and economics will present their view of the current status of local, state, and national economies, and their predictions for the future.

Robert Sonora, former FLC professor of Economics, will present La Plata County Economy Composition & Trends, followed by The Colorado Economy presented by Richard Wobbekind, senior associate dean for Academic Programs at the Leeds School of Business University of Colorado at Boulder. The program will conclude with Tim Quinlan, vice president and economist with Wells Fargo Securities, presenting The National & International Economy.

“The forum is an excellent place to learn from top-notch speakers about what’s happening in the local, state, and national economies,” says Steve Elias, dean of the FLC School of Business Administration.

Quinlan will also present at 1 p.m. in room 710 of Sitter Family Hall, for those unable to attend the morning session.

The Southwest Economic Outlook is a valuable opportunity for business owners, non-profit organizations, and government agencies to understand the economic influence on business, and to make better decisions as organization leaders.

The event is free and open to the public with opportunities for networking and refreshments. Past presentations are available online, as are past Economic Impact Studies in Southwest Colorado.
