Updating Campus Health Protocols at FLC
FLC Community,
Fort Lewis College will no longer require Green Health Passes in classrooms and other indoor spaces beginning May 16.
Throughout the pandemic, we have attempted to balance safety with learning and the quality of the student experience. Given the diminishing threat posed by COVID-19 and our interest in getting back to the best possible student experience, we will be taking the next step toward our return to normalcy. Based on our conversations with local and state experts, minimal transmission and positivity rates, and an exceedingly high vaccination rate, we can remove another layer of COVID mitigation. Health passes and symptom tracking notifications will no longer be managed beginning next week.
Faculty should return to their own classroom management and attendance policies. We encourage flexibility and support for students and employees with symptoms or illness as we try to maintain healthy and safe classroom and working environments.
We also encourage supervisors to continue to be flexible with their staff based on the needs of their department and the needs of individual staff members. Employees who are impacted by COVID-related illnesses or disruptions are eligible for use of Public Health Emergency Leave through the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act. Faculty, staff, or student employees can contact Human Resources for additional leave reporting procedures.
We will continue to trust our community to follow the following guidance:
- If you are sick, stay home and limit your connections.
- For a variety of reasons, you may see many members of our community still wearing masks. As we have done throughout the pandemic, please be respectful and understanding of your peers and colleagues.
- The COVID vaccine/booster requirement is still in effect for Fall 2022. Students who have yet to receive their booster must still get their shot as soon as they’re eligible and come into compliance with our policy.
- Testing for COVID-19 at FLC will continue to be available at the Stadium Parking Lot and you can continue using www.fortlewis.edu/covid19testing to register for a test.
