On July 19, 2012, a new era of Fort Lewis College Athletics will begin as the College unveils two new Skyhawk logos, a primary and secondary logo. The official unveiling ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. in the Student Union Vallecito Room. Everyone is invited.

Fort Lewis College President Dene Thomas has joined the Twitterverse. She joins college and university presidents from across the country who are beginning to embrace Twitter as another way to connect with people on and off campus. Everyone is invited to follow President Thomas and take advantage of this unique perspective into Fort Lewis College.

When students learn, everyone benefits. And at Fort Lewis College, those benefits can be found every Thursday from spring to fall under the Clocktower in the center of campus. That's when students who have been studying and practicing organic growing techniques bring the fruits -- and vegetables and meats -- of their labor to campus for sale at the open-air Old Fort Farm Stand.

Completing an undergraduate education in four years can be a challenge. But the rewards can be many -- personal accomplishment, financial savings, and moving on to the next stage of your career-building. 

Going green has been a way of life at Fort Lewis College for a long time -- it just comes naturally when you live in a place as beautiful and inspiring as southwestern Colorado. And this summer, the FLC campus has gotten even greener, with several energy- and money-saving projects underway.

In May, when Fort Lewis College first baseman Stephanie Janes was named to the Capital One Academic All-America second team for NCAA Division II, it was a crowning academic achievement for Skyhawk athletes.

You could call it "the Corner of FLC & Main."

Actually, it's the corner of 8^th Street and Main Avenue. But whatever you call it, the new Durango Welcome Center is also new downtown home of all things Fort Lewis College, bringing the best of campus to folks walking beautiful Durango's sidewalks.

Fort Lewis College Associate Professor of Economics Robert Sonora will be spending part of 2013 working in Croatia thanks to the Fulbright International Exchange Program. It’s a win-win-win for the people of Croatia, Sonora, and for the future FLC students that find themselves in one of Sonora’s future classes.

A hundred and five riders will combine their love of cycling with their love of Fort Lewis College at this year's annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, when the Fort Lewis College Road Scholars Team races the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train from Durango to Silverton in the Citizens Tour on Saturday, May 26, 2012.

Before heading to class for the Fall semester, several dozen freshmen students will explore and camp in the San Juan Mountains -- the ragged range of peaks visible to the north from campus. While they're out there, they'll also be get to know some of their new classmates and learn about the FLC culture.

Research proposals by Fort Lewis College Geosciences students earned four of the five grants for undergraduate research awarded by the Rocky Mountain Section of the Geological Society of America in April. 

The Fort Lewis Cycling team is the best collegiate cycling program in the country for the third year in a row after earning the highest overall point total for the 2011-2012 season in USA Cycling's Division I.

The Fort Lewis College Cycling team will be #1 in the nation for the third year in a row if it continues its recent run of successes at the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships, May 4 - 6 in Ogden, Utah. The event completes the four-discipline collegiate cycling year, which also includes track, mountain biking, and cyclo cross.

For 450 Fort Lewis College students, one chapter of their lives culminated and a new one began at FLC’s Spring Commencement on April 28. The newest Fort Lewis alumni walk away with degrees in the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural and behavioral sciences, and business.

To try and celebrate all of the achievements that Dr. Shere Byrd has accomplished in her time at Fort Lewis College would be a big task.
