Directions to Campus

Arriving by Car:

Principal highways to Durango: U.S. 550 and U.S. 160

Driving from the Denver area:
From U.S. 285 South, turn right on CO 112 heading west to Del Norte. In Del Norte, turn right onto U.S. 160. Follow U.S. 160 West into Durango. U.S. 160 becomes U.S. 160-550. When it splits, follow U.S. 550 to College Drive. Turn right onto College Drive, follow for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto Fort Lewis Drive. Follow signs to the Office of Admission & Advising.

Driving from the Grand Junction area:
U.S. 50 South to U.S. 550 South to Durango. U.S. 550 becomes Main Avenue. Follow Main Avenue through downtown Durango to 8th Street. Turn left on 8th Street. When it dead-ends, turn left on 8th Avenue. Follow to top of the hill. At the traffic light, turn left and follow signs to the Office of Admission & Advising.

Driving from Colorado Springs - Pueblo areas:
I/25 South to U.S. 160 West into Durango. U.S. 160 becomes U.S. 160-550. When it splits, follow U.S. 550 to College Drive. Turn right onto College Drive, follow for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto Fort Lewis Drive. Follow signs to the Office of Admission and Advising.

Driving from Albuquerque, NM:
U.S. 550 North to Durango. Follow U.S. 550 North to College Drive. Turn right onto College Drive, follow for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto Fort Lewis Drive. Follow signs to the  Office of Admission & Advising.

Arriving by Air:

Daily flights arrive at and depart from the Durango-La Plata County Airport. Daily flights from the Denver, Phoenix, and Dallas-Fort Worth are available.

Fort Lewis College is located about 20 minutes from the airport.

When exiting the airport, follow CO 172 to U.S. 160 West. U.S. 160 becomes U.S. 160-550.

When it splits, follow U.S. 550 to College Drive. Turn right onto College Drive and follow for 1.8 miles. Turn left onto Fort Lewis Drive and follow signs to the Office of Admission & Advising.

Parking on Campus

Parking permits are required for all vehicles on campus from September - April. Summer parking is free!


Daily and Temporary Parking Permits
  • Daily permit machines are located: on Fort Lewis Drive between East 8th Avenue and Goeglein Gulch Road; and East 8th Avenue on the "front hill" leading to Fort Lewis College. Both locations are at the information display boards and do accept both credit/debit cards, and cash.
  • Cost is $3.00 for up to 4 hours and $4.00 for the entire day.
  • Parking is free after 5pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
  • Daily Permits are also available at Aspen Hall or at the Cashier's Window in Berndt Hall
  • Temporary permits and permits for special circumstances are available at Aspen Hall

Visitor Parking
Visitors are welcome at the Fort Lewis College Campus. Permits may be purchased as mentioned in the preceding paragraph.
  • Admissions Lot (V) adjacent to Kroeger Hall is for Admissions visitor parking only. Please check in at the front desk of the Admission Office to pick up a free parking pass.
  • Free visitor spaces are intended for short-term parking, 2 hours or less.
  • Metered spaces are also available, at a rate of $0.25/half-hour. 2-hour metered spaces are available in the following lots: Art Lot (B), Education/Business Hall Lot (G), Center of Southwest Studies Lot (Q) and Union Visitor Lot (X).
  • The locations of visitor and metered spaces are noted on the campus map.
  • Students, faculty and anyone who works on campus will be fined $30.00 for parking in visitor spaces.

ALL VEHICLES PARKED IN METERED SPACES MUST PAY FOR METERED PARKING, including vehicles with parking permits. Vehicles exceeding the paid 2-hour time limit will be ticketed or towed.
