Born and raised on the Navajo Nation in Round Rock, Arizona, Faith Roessel lived the disparities of the education system as a Native student and has since focused her life’s work on changing the Native American education experience.

The Fort Lewis College Foundation received $ $6,172,368 from in gifts and pledges for the 2019-20 fiscal year, the largest annual amount in FLC history.

Since he was a kid, Gary Schlessman (Business, ’79) has always determined to carve his own path. While his father and siblings chose Colorado College, Schlessman opted to get as far away from the Front Range as possible while still staying in Colorado. He headed to Fort Lewis College in Durango in 1975 and discovered an education to live by and friends to last a lifetime.

Senate Bill 20-219 sets in place a lease-purchase agreement to fund continuing capital construction projects at Fort Lewis College, University of Colorado, and Colorado State University. 

After 20 years of service and millions of dollars in grants to FLC and the Native American Center, the John & Sophie Ottens Foundation is winding down operations, imparting one final gift to the NAC - the largest single cash gift in FLC history.

The Skyhawk Emergency Fund is filling those gaps.
