Error Message Types

Student Status prohibits registration: If the student has an inactive status on their student record, they will receive this error. Contact the Skyhawk Station to determine the best way to reactivate the account.

You may not add or drop classes due to holds on your record: Student has a hold on their account which prevents registration (including add, drop or withdrawal). Contact the department that placed the hold to resolve.

If you need to drop or withdrawal from a course(s) and are unable to resolve the hold, please contact Skyhawk Station.

Class Restriction: Registration is restricted to specific class level(s) i.e. Juniors or Seniors. Contact the instructor of record for permission to enter the class. A faculty override will be needed. Faculty override is at the discretion of the faculty.

Closed Section: Course is full. Add to Waitlist if available. Registration waitlist is an electronic list of students who are waiting to register for a full class. All classes have an available waitlist except for those that have a required lab with a separate CRN (Course Reference Number: a unique 5-digit number assigned to each class). For example, CHEM 150 has one CRN and the CHEM 150 labs have different CRNs, so that class does not have a waitlist.

Co-Requisite Required: A co-requisite course must be registered for at the same time. Co-req course must be added at the same time before hitting acknowledge/submit. (Ex. COMP 100 and  COMP 150)

Duplicate CRN: Attempting to register for the same course twice. Cannot register for a section more than once.

Field of Study Restriction: Course registration is restricted to specific Major and Minor only. Contact the instructor of record for permission to enter the class. A faculty override will be needed. Faculty override is at the discretion of the faculty.

Instructor Approval:  Instructor consent is needed to enter the course. Contact the instructor of record for permission to enter the class. A faculty override will be needed. Faculty override is at the discretion of the faculty.

Link Error: Lecture and lab courses must be added at the same time. Check one lecture and one lab and then click Submit. You may change lab sections by adding the lab section you want at the same time you drop the lab section you don’t want. To do so, use the dropdown box next to the lab you’re dropping and select “Drop/Delete.” Before you submit your changes, add the CRN of the lab you want to the Summary worksheet. Click on “Submit Changes.” Be sure to double-check your schedule for accuracy.

Major Restriction: Course registration is restricted to specific Major only. Contact the instructor of record for permission to enter the class. A faculty override will be needed.

Maximum Hours: You’ve attempted to register for more than 18 credits (undergraduates) in fall or spring term or 8 credits in summer term. A Credit Overload Petition is required.
