A registration waitlist is a electronic list of students who are waiting to register for a full class. All classes have an available waitlist except for courses that have a required lab with a separate CRN (for example: CHEM 150).
You need to satisfy any relevant prerequisites and restrictions (like the instructor's signature) before you can get on the waitlist for a class.
You are not allowed to join a waitlist for a class that will conflict with another class you are currently registered for. You will have to drop the class with which there is a time conflict before you will be able to add the waitlisted class.
When you try to register for a full class, you will get a Registration Add Error, which will show up at the bottom of the page. The error will tell you that the class is closed, and it will tell you how many people are currently on the waitlist.
To join the waitlist, select "waitlist" from the from the drop-down menu under "Action" next to the class, then click "Submit Changes".
If the waitlist is full, you will get and error telling you as much.
If you get an error message that says ‘Open-Reserved for Waitlist’, the section was closed, but someone dropped the class--only students already on the waitlist will be allowed to register for that spot.
Once you are on the waitlist, the class will appear in your detailed schedule. You will also be able to see your position on the waitlist on your detailed schedule.
If a space opens up in the class and you are the next person in line on the waitlist, an email will be sent to your FLC email address notifying you that there is a space available for you and that the Registrar's Office registered you. If you DO want to be in this course, no action is required on your part. If you DO NOT want to be in this course, you must drop it on WebOPUS. You might might get an additional email from Registrar's Office if we encounter other issues.
The waitlist process closes the Thursday before the term starts. Students are removed from the waitlist on the Friday before the term starts and are notified by email that they are not registered for the course they had been on the waitlist.
Students can add classes on WebOPUS through the first Thursday of the term as long as there are seats available. If no seats are available, instructors may be willing, but are not obligated, to enter a Webopus override allowing students to register.
