"Hanging Out" Research in Tanzania
MAR
27
Can just hanging out be a part of research? Yes! Anthropologists can study humans by hanging out with them, which is what FLC alums Haley Perez & Erin Fogo, along with Professor Marnie Thomson, did during two summers of research in Tanzania. Join us Wednesday, March 27th at 4:30 p.m. on the Mainstage of the FLC Theatre as they talk about their insightful work and how it has provided both personal & professional development. The Speaker Series allows students at all levels, staff, faculty, and the broader Durango community to hear research-related personal stories. The talks last 35-40 minutes, followed by Q&A, snacks, and conversation. Watch previous Speaker Series talks on our YouTube channel .

Community by Conversation
MAR

The FLC Political Psychology class , in collaboration with the FLC Political Engagement Project and Restore the Balance - La Plata County , presents an engaging and informative workshop to help you have better conversations. Political Psychology students will present research-backed strategies and tips to help you connect with others across personal and political divides. Attendees will practice various techniques to engage in rewarding conversations with fellow community members––and learn more about each other (and ourselves) in the process. Food and drinks will be provided, but your curiosity and enthusiasm for better conversations are required! Talking about important issues with those who may think differently is hard... But we are here to help! Please join us in building community through diverse and meaningful conversations. (If you require any Spanish language interpretation, please leave a comment when you RSVP. We will be providing a Spanish-language interpretation service.)
