Gender neutral restrooms

Individuals may use the restroom that corresponds to their gender identity. The College is committed to provide gender-neutral restrooms in existing buildings, to the extent reasonably feasible, and will include at least one gender-neutral restroom in all newly constructed or significantly renovated buildings. Preferred first name

A preferred first name can and should be used where possible in the course of College business and education, including but not limited to, email address, directory listings, recognitions and any printed materials. Log in to WebOPUS and follow these procedures to notify the College of a preferred first name.

Gender Inclusive Housing

The FLC gender inclusive housing option allows for same gender, opposite-gender, or other-gender identities to live together, regardless of biological sex.

Addressing harassment

FLC prohibits gender-based sexual harassment, which includes acts of unwelcome verbal, nonverbal, or physical aggression, intimidation, or hostility of a sexual nature based on actual or perceived gender, gender identity, or gender expression, and/or nonconformity with gender stereotypes. Support and resources

The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center provides a centralized space for support and resources for Fort Lewis College’s women, LGBTTQIA students, and male allies. It is located in 145 Reed Library. The center is used by students for meetings, events, studying and socializing.

PRISM

Proudly Resisting Institutionalized Gender and Sexual Mandates. FLC’s Gay-Straight Cis-Trans alliance is a registered student organization. Stop by the GSRC for meeting times and more information.

4STAR

The Four Corners Support for Transgender People, Allies and Relatives, meets from 5-7 p.m. on the first and third Sundays each month. For more information call 970-247-3229.

Ally training

SafeZone provides training and support to Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender [LGBT] and LGBT-affirmative faculty, staff, administrators, and students who desire education on such matters, to raise awareness within the community, and to provide support and resources for those individuals in need of a safe place to talk and get information regarding any issues they are confronting or discrimination they may have faced.

Bias prevention

Common Ground trains a network of facilitators in an anti-bias educational program that promotes cultural awareness and combats discrimination.

The Trevor Project: The Trevor Project was founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.

One Colorado

One Colorado is the state’s leading advocacy organization dedicated to advancing equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Coloradans and their families.

GLADD

GLADD rewrites the script for LGBTQ acceptance. As a dynamic media force, GLAAD tackles tough issues to shape the narrative and provoke dialogue that leads to cultural change. GLAAD protects all that has been accomplished and creates a world where everyone can live the life they love.

Transgender Law Center works to change law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression.

Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund

(TLDEF)is committed to ending discrimination based upon gender identity and expression and to achieving equality for transgender people through public education, test-case litigation, direct legal services, community organizing and public policy efforts.TLDEF’s in-house legal program brings test-case litigation with wide impact in all areas of transgender civil rights. Activism and Social Justice

The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) is a national social justice organization devoted to ending discrimination and violence against transgender people through education and advocacy on national issues of importance to transgender people.
